Asset Integrity

Maintaining your assets in a fit-for-service condition is crucial in today’s competitive environment. The most efficient way to achieve a safe and reliable operation of your facilities and equipment is through an effective asset management program that ensures maximum safety, high reliability and technical integrity in combination with regulatory compliance.

Source Inspection

Kelaj has many years experience carrying out Risk-Based Inspection (RBI); a methodology that involves quantitative assessment of the probability of failure and the consequence of failure associated with each equipment item in an operation. An RBI program places individual pieces of equipment into specific categories based on their risks and prioritizes inspection efforts based on this categorization.

Kelaj is constantly seeking out more effective processes in order to better serve your needs and has committed vast resources into the development of advanced NDT methods and procedures. We have many years’ worth of experience in being able to respond to the needs of the industry and quickly provide answers to the inspection challenges that arise.

Advanced Ultrasonic Inspection

1. Ultrasonic Phased Array to detect component failures such as cracks and flaws and can be applied for inspection of welds, thickness measurements, corrosion inspection and flaw detection.

2. Time of Flight Diffraction Kelaj understands the need for high operator proficiency in order to get the best results from advanced inspection techniques such as Time of Flight Diffraction and so all of our Inspectors receive ongoing training and are experienced in the field with the TOFD technique.

3. Long Range Ultrasonic Testing is an advanced technology for detecting and analyzing corrosion where access is difficult. Benefits include:

Low cost screening with 100% coverage
Focussing capability to evaluate corrosion distribution around pipe circumference
Detection of metal loss > 3%
Ideal where conventional testing is impossible or very costly e.g. clamped, insulated, elevated, sleeved or buried pipes.
Testing of pipes up to 48” diameter
Proven capability on pipe in service up to 125 oC
Typical test range 60m from single location, ideal conditions can achieve longer distance.
Ideal where conventional testing is impossible or very costly e.g. clamped, insulated, elevated, sleeved or buried pipes.

4. Corrosion Under Support Kelaj has developed a unique tool for detecting corrosion in pipelines at support areas. Our Corrosion Under Support system is able to quantify corrosion and measure the remaining wall thickness at the inaccessible areas where the pipe is resting on supports or held by clamps.

Advanced Inspection

1. Pulsed Eddy Current Testing we carry a full range of portable flaw detectors available to serve the broadest range of applications and out in-house inspectors are qualified and experienced in eddy current testing.

2. Alternating Current Field Measurement (ACFM) we carry a full range of portable flaw detectors available to serve the broadest range of applications and out in-house inspectors are qualified and experienced in eddy current testing.

3. Eddy Current Array Testing  Kelaj uses ECA technology primarily as an alternative to other surface inspection techniques when conducting operations in industrial sectors such as oil, gas, petrochemical, power generation, heavy equipment and mining. Eddy Current Array’s works particularly well as a supplement to ultrasonic testing (UT) and phased-array UT as both these technologies suffer from shortcomings when it comes to detecting near-surface defects.

3. Computed and Digital Radiography Computed Radiography (CR) provides the digital equivalent of the conventional X-ray film while simultaneously providing the enormous advantages that consumables are virtually eliminated and the time to image is reduced considerably.

Internal Inspection

“Intelligent Pigging” also referred to as “Smart Pigging” is an advanced robotic technique that propels a purpose-built pipeline integrity gauge (PIG) unit fitted with a variety of probes and sensors through a pipeline to detect and measure corrosion, metal loss, cracks, dents, deformations, etc. An ILI report will detail all major concerns to the condition and integrity of a pipeline with exact location markers.
